Just thought I had better check in and let folks I am alive.
Above is my life. The big flyover abutment on the project. The guy you see on the right next to the machine on the ground is the NMDOT guy running the same tests I just ran for quality assurance. In this picture, we are testing the fill in the flyover abutment to make certain that it is compacted properly. You really don't want settlement under your highways. If you look to the left you can see we are about 30' up at this point. Two tests per wall, per 100 linear feet, per 2' fill, plus one test per 2000 cubic yards of fill in the embankment and one test per 6" fill in the abutment so I just finished 13 tests on this area. I'll be heading off to do the same on the other side of the flyover, plus each side of several bridges (And all the road sub grades and base course, pipe trenches, concrete testing, etc). Story of my life. One tester keeping track of 4-9 crews. Site pinball baby!
As for the comic, you can see the lighting is just perfect for drawing. Yeah right. I had hoped to be able to draw in my downtime but the light has foiled that, and of course that I have no down time. So this picture right here is going to be about as much BTS as we will be getting until MINIMUM October. The whole project won't be done until December but I hope with the Balloon Fiesta deadline in October passing, things will slow down.
I have been fleshing out scripts so the next chapters should be ready to roll once I get to them.
So happy Birthday to me and to BTS. 44 for the scribbler and 10 years for the scribbles! We aren't dead yet. Just in stasis. :)
