Several people have told me that the flintlocks could not fire in the rain as you see it here. As I understand it, that is not entirely true. If the powder was kept as dry as possible you could fire...if you were lucky. The longer you went in the elements like this, the greater the chance of a misfire. I decided Thads waiting until the last second to prime his pan would have allowed him the chance of firing. Of course luck, and the script writer, was on his side. ;)

I also did not draw the musket locks wrapped in leather as would have been done in this sort of weather. But I can plead ignorance as I had not gone that far in my research at the time of the drawing. Of course this is more anal retentive detail mongering, but I am trying to be reasonably accurate to the time. Of course I welcome anyone pointing out things I miss in the forums.

I am on the last page of chapter one in my drawing buffer. Once I finish it, I need to make a mass scanning so I can get my dialogues in. I have two weeks and I am out of completed strips for posting! =) This should be no trouble though. Wish me luck!
